Remembering Sr. Sheila Fay

Remembering Sr. Sheila Fay
With hope that she is now enjoying eternal rest and with gratitude for her life of consecration, we announce the passing of our dear Sr. Mary Sheila Fay this morning.

Sr. Sheila had been in hospice care for a number of months and was most ready to meet her God. With the passing of her two brothers earlier this year, Sr. Sheila seemed to hear the call with even greater peace-of-mind.

When Sr. Sheila entered hospice in the spring, she wrote a letter of gratitude to the SND community, family, friends, former students and colleagues.  The responses of love and gratitude that came back to her filled her with abundant joy. In her message, she assured us that she would be carrying each of us in prayer during the coming weeks, and we can only imagine that she will be our special intercessor now before the throne of God.

Repeatedly, Sr. Sheila has been characterized as a woman of great wisdom and dignity.  As she now experiences eternal joy and peace, the fulfillment of her wisdom, please entrust your concerns to her intercession. We can only imagine the many ways that she will continue the special gift of her friendship.

A memorial service will be held in the future to celebrate her life and legacy; additional information will be sent when available. The Sisters of Notre Dame would also appreciate memorial contributions to further her legacy through www.sndca.org/donate.

We can be confident that she is interceding for us before our good and provident God.   May she rest in peace…
