Water for drinking, cooking, bathing and cleaning is a basic human need and right. For St. Julie’s Mission and the village of Buseesa, the availability of water is a regular challenge. Water sources have been a local spring and captured rain water. Storage tanks have limited capability and durability. In this drought-stricken area, a pump water system is the only sustainable way to meet hydration and sanitation needs.
A new durable system, designed by a local company, will use a borehole deep well and a distribution structure–a pump house, gravity tank and stand, lower tanks, piping and taps. An additional tap at the parish will allow community access to safe drinking water. St. Julie Mission is uniquely positioned to oversee the funding, construction, maintenance and security of this project.
