Sister Mary Anncarla Costello and Sister Mary Regina Robbins recently attended the Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR). The meeting was held at the Presentation Sisters’ center in Los Gatos, California. The crisp fresh air of northern California and the beauty of the property were an invitation for sharing and renewal. Through this regional gathering, women religious in leadership positions in different communities come together. In mutual camaraderie they experience communal prayer, new ideas, support and hope for the present and future of religious life.
While serious issues such as human trafficking, immigration, and other social concerns were brought to the table, the social time and networking among the sisters made for a delightful and energizing few days.
Sister Nancy Sylvester, IHM was the keynote speaker who engaged the participants with her presentation entitled, “Co-creating Our Future in Hope.” She also guided the sisters in a contemplative process to explore transitions in our life and in the world. The few days complemented the launch of the Year of Consecrated Life proclaimed by Pope Francis. The Year of Consecrated Life begins on November 30 and closes on the World Day of Consecrated Life, February 2, 2016. Sister Mary Anncarla and Sister Mary Regina came away from Los Gatos having renewed friendships and energized themselves for all that religious life is for the world today.
